Melissa Gibson, MBA

Marketing & business developer

With an Economics degree from Cornell University, an MBA from the University of Georgia, and experience in branding and market research for national corporations, Melissa Gibson made the pivot to address the needs of smaller businesses and entrepreneurs when she started her own consulting firm in 1991. Bringing “big box” solutions to “small box” ventures, Melissa created award-winning, breakthrough marketing programs that generated significant incremental income and profits, giving her clients a competitive edge. Over the past 25 years, Melissa has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs and organizations committed to acquiring new customers, generating increased revenue, and building brand equity. Her approach places special emphasis on grassroots growth platforms, collaborative marketing, triple-bottom line strategy and innovative idea generation.

Dedicated to helping businesses grow, Melissa has developed several proprietary Workshops, including Local Pep Talk, Marketing Won + Done, Impact Marketing for Socially Conscious Entrepreneurs, Networking for Collaborators and The Elevator Pitch.  She is a sought after and dynamic speaker, most recently featured at the Hudson Valley Social Venture Institute at the Omega Institute, National SHAPE America, ECA Worldfitness, Re<Think Local Alternative Health Conference, the Etsy Social Impact Series, Body Local, Women Empowering Women and Wisdom of Women.

Melissa is also master class certified in Strategyzer AG’s Business Model Generation approach to innovation. This includes Business Model Canvasing, a collaborative, strategic management and lean startup tool used to innovate and develop new or existing businesses, as well as the Value Proposition Canvas, which identifies and maximizes core business practices.

Her personal passions are reflected in her professional endeavors, with a focus on sustainability, wellness, localism, collaboration, and female empowerment. With a fresh and open approach to life, Melissa identifies with what she has dubbed, “The Slash Economy” – she is a consultant/entrepreneur/mother/speaker/networker/community activist/snowboarder. In 2015, Melissa won three medals at the National USASA Snowboard Championships in Colorado – two silver and one gold. She is married to Bill, a public-school science teacher and coach, and they have two sons. Melissa is bi-state-al -- she is at home on the slopes and trails of the Hudson Valley mountains, as well as on the beaches of the Long Island shore.
